The first time we tried Mt. Totumas coffee was during a blind cupping session at Boot Coffee last year. It was undoubtedly given the top score across all cuppers. Lucky for us, Karin, one of the producers, lived in Oakland during the off season. Like Luchi, Karin came from a culinary background and used her experience to guide their experiments processing the coffees. For the first time this year, Mt. Totumas decided to enter their Natural Gesha in the prestigious Best of Panama competition. As a Rookie, Mt. Totumas' Gesha placed FIRST in the Natural Category. Historically, this competition is occupied by generations of the same estates. Their win is symbolic to a shift in new generations of coffee in the Panama region. We're fortunate to be the exclusive U.S. Roaster for their Lot B.
